In a move to provide even better service to their Prime customers, Amazon begins testing Sunday delivery today in New York City and Los Angeles. After an initial test in those markets , Amazon plans to expand the service to customers in Phoenix, New Orleans, Dallas, Houston and a number of other US Cities within the next year. Amazon will even begon delivering Sunday packages in London via it's own vehicles "later this month". Amazon's Dave Clark states “If you’re an Amazon Prime member, you can order a backpack for your child on Friday and be packing it for them Sunday night." “We’re excited that now every day is an Amazon delivery day and we know our Prime members, who voraciously shop on Amazon, will love the additional convenience they will experience as part of this new service.”
Amazon is partnering with the US Postal Service in this endeavor, a surprise move to some, considering the postal service's floundering reputation for reliability and fiscal soundness over the past decade. Patrick Donahoe, Postmaster General and CEO states " “As online shopping continues to increase, the Postal Service is very happy to offer shippers like Amazon the option of having packages delivered on Sunday,” “With this new service, the Postal Service is now delivering packages seven days a week in select cities. Customers can expect the same reliable and valued service that the Postal Service currently provides.”
You must be an Amazon Prime customer to take advantage of the service, and no special process is necessary, simply select the Sunday Delivery Promise at checkout.
